Epsom Hospital Radio > The Studio

Where it all happens...

The studio we use today was built in 2001 by Chris Cook and Dave Woolgar, using professional quality equipment it has stood the test of time well.

The Next Step...

Click to enlargeEpsom Hospital Radio has recently purchased Radio Automation Software, which has brought about the beginning of the new era at Epsom Hospital Radio.

We now have a major project on to bring our own programming to our listeners, 24 hours a day, which should be completed by Easter 2010.

The first step is to get enough music, jingles, etc. onto the computer's database to play music at times that the studio is un-manned, instead of taking a feed from BBC Radio 2.

The second step is to fully integrate the radio automation software into the studio, replacing the computer system that we currently use for jingles and the occasional song. Once this is done, the new radio automation software will be used as a tool for Presenters to use during their shows and will require the purchase of extra channels for the Alice Soundtech Series A mixing desk, touch screen monitors and maybe a keyboard designed specifically to work with the software.

The Third Step will be to construct a new studio or a sound booth in which presenters can pre-record programmes to go out at times when the station is off air.

We plan to get stage one and stage two completed by Easter 2010. Stage three however will require extra funding, we have not set a realistic date for this just yet.
